Not many 5K races start inside a mall. That is what makes the Cadillac Mall 5K so unique. Runners start inside the Bangor Mall at the Cadillac Mountain Sports store and then head straight out the doors into the parking lot where they circle the mall and nearby restaurant Oriental Jade for 3.1 miles. After watching the video above, check out this illustration (also below) by local artist A. Correia of Correia CreativeDid life imitate art or was this race inspiration for her design?

There has definitely been some excitement over the new Maine-themed flavors from Gifford's Famous Ice Cream. Earlier this month on their facebook page, Gifford's shared a photo of one fan's creative arrangement using rice and cartons of Appalachian Trail and Mt. Katahdin Crunch. In the video above, another fan maybe gets a little too giddy about the new Campfire S'mores flavor. Thankfully, not every fan takes the names of Gifford's New Outdoor Adventure Series flavors this literally, otherwise who knows what they would do with Fly Fishing Fudge or Muddy Boots!

"Cordwood Pete" - by A. Correia
Wielding an ax in one hand and a Stephen King doll in the other, Cordwood Pete (a.k.a. Paul Bunyan's little brother) looks like one mean, lean, wood-cutting machine in A. Correia's illustration.  Entitled "Cordwood Pete," the piece can be ordered on a t-shirt, pillow and more at Correia Creative's online shop. However, if you're looking to own an original, consider checking out the Black Bear Skatepark Association's online Unsanctioned Art Auction. There you'll find an acrylic version of "Pete" (painted on a skateboard deck) as well as decks by many other local artists. Final bidding begins Wednesday, May 15th at 6pm at the Keith Anderson Community Center in Orono. Proceeds go toward the construction of a UMaine Campus Skate Park
